What a great day today it was to get into the old veggie garden weather was beaming in Wyndham today, I've made a great start the last couple of weeks . I still needed to add some product to my gardens soil as the soil was pretty weak and needed some extras put into the dirt as I really want to treat my veggies this year. I smashed together a mix of compost and cow manure and blood and bone into the garden soil I didn't measure nothing just mixed it all in, the place stinks like cow ass, but the soil is ready for more planting now. I added in some more lettuce seeds the other day but still got ample room for more babies. Even since my last blog things have been pumping up with this gentle start to Spring things are defiantly in G mode, rain is a bit weak this week so it will be important to keep an eye on watering as the sun dries out the garden pretty quickly even in these early 20's, hopefully we get some more rain next week but it's good growing conditions either way.
Killed all the snails the whole family of them got them wiped out so the lettuce are loving it had a few aphids on the broad beans so I attacked them with some pesticide spray, so hopefully they wont cause anymore issues, the carrots are also starting to pop up too and the cherry tomatoes are doing fine, theirs nothings eating them yet. The garden has been neglected for a while so getting on top of these bugs comes with the territory.
Carrots coming through.
Field Tomatoes.
Cucumber starting to shoot through looking good.
This part of the garden has 3 rock melon seedlings coming through they will be trained to grow off the vine next to the field tomatoes.
All in all were finally on the field the weather is awesome the birds are singing and Christmas season is upon us too, love this time of the year in Victoria.
